In the consolation game of the Holy Angels Holiday Tournament at Charlotte Catholic, Gaston Day trailed by 15 points entering the fourth quarter. But the Spartans trimmed the lead to one with seconds left before falling just short. Corey Raley led the way with 10 points while Hjalti Fridriksson scored 14 points, grabbed 13 rebounds and blocked six shots while posting his sixth double-double of the season. Pet Sumner added 10 for Gaston Day (5-6), which plays in the High Point Holiday Tournament next week.
